Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy has been forced out of office after MPs voted in favour of a no-confidence vote against him.
Socialist Party leader Pedro Sánchez will now become Prime Minister – the first Socialist to hold power in six years.
Rajoy is the first Spanish leader in Spain’s democratic history to be ousted by a no confidence vote.
180 MPs voted in favour, including support from smaller regionalist parties. Only the ruling PP and the Citizens Party voted against.
Sánchez has promised fresh elections to take place within a few months.
